Deer Creek Accident Update  |

(see previous post below for details)

I talked to Justin Queensland (Deer Creek Speedway official) this morning, and her confirmed that Mark Noble did go to the hospital after leaving the track. He also said that Noble, Mike Hejna, and Tommy Myer were released. Lonnie Earney remained at the hospital.

I have heard from a few other creditable sources that Earney was breathing on his own after receiving help through the night, and he was responsive to his wife on certain questions. There has been no official word from USMTS or Deer Creek Speedway officials on Earney's condition at this time.

That is the only official news I have heard at this time.

Deer Creek Speedway Update  |

There were several drivers involved in the crash (10 total), and three that were sent to the hospital: Lonnie Earney, Mike Hejna, and Tommy Myer. All three were transported via Ambulance, and they were awake when they left the speedway.

How Did It Happen? Mike Hejna's car got a little loose coming off of two. He made a little contact with another car. While trying to save it, it cased a lot of other cars to check-up. It then created a chain reaction. It was a racing deal. No one's fault.

Earney's car had the throttle stick after the red light was turned on. It is possible that his throttle stuck before he even entered turn three. We are not sure when the throttle did get stuck open. His car keep moving. It made a few donuts in the middle of turns three and four. The car then went back towards the crash. It made a sudden move towards the wall. It was at this time the car started to climb the wall. It took out the traffic/caution light. That spun the car around 180 degress. WHen it did that, it left both rear wheels off of the ground. Thankfully it ended up blowing the motor before more damage was caused.

The drivers meet off of turn two and decided to call the race and give the prize money to families involved tonight. No word about points, but at a time like this, it really doesn't matter.

There is no other official word at this time from anyone, and we will wait for official word from Deer Creek and/or USMTS. I've never seen anything like this in my 30+ years of being at the track.

Again, we want to pass a long our thoughts and prayers. All three drivers were involved in very heavy impacts at race speed.
